Most of this site is written from published sources about the model in general. These three pages are the exception: each one follows a single car.

The rest of the archive deals with the Aceca as a type: what was built, how it was built, and how it is kept running. The pages gathered here do something different. Each follows one car through its own history, and each rests on quite different evidence.

One is the author's own car, documented from its own papers. One is built from a single published magazine account, credited on the page. One is about a car most people have only ever seen on television. The evidence behind each of them differs, and each page says plainly what it rests on rather than leaving you to guess.

UBR 135, 1958 AC Aceca-Bristol

A matching numbers car, one of the 169 built with the Bristol engine, with an unbroken history running back six decades. Documented from the car's own papers and photographed for the archive. Read the page on UBR 135.

AC Ace Bristol BE 232, 593 CPC

An ex-works development car that raced at Goodwood, Shelsley Walsh and Chateau Impney, and then sat in a barn for forty years. The page is drawn from a single published magazine account, credited to its author and photographer on the page. Read the page on BE 232.

The AC Aceca on Car SOS

The 1957 car that left Thames Ditton with a Triumph engine, which is why AC called it a prototype. It is not a typical Aceca, and anyone who knows the model only from the programme is worth telling so. Read the page on the Car SOS car.
